Mayor's Remembrance Walk
The public is invited to participate in the fifth annual Mayor’s remembrance Walk on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The walk is being held in observance of the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on America and to recognize the first-responders and members of the armed forces. The walk will cover the Frank F. Fasi Civic Center and part of Kakaako and will include brief ceremonies and wreath presentations at the HPD headquarters, HFD headquarters, and the formal program at Honolulu Hale. The walk begins at HPD’s Alapai headquarters on 801 South Beretania Street.

"The Mauka Makai ... Voyage of Discovery" event
The Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i's "The Mauka Makai ... Voyage of Discovery" gala is set for Friday, September 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at The Waterfront at Aloha Tower Marketplace. The "Viva la Cancer Research" themed benefit will feature an array of specially prepared Mexican cuisine, live entertainment, and decor. It will also include an extensive silent auction and special live auction. Local philanthropists Bert and Susan Kobayashi will receive the Mauka Makai 2010 Award for their significant contributions to the progress of cancer research, treatment, and education.
