"Cooking for the Love of It!"
Gourmet Cooking Hawaii (GCH) presents three in-kitchen cooking classes by James Beard award-winner George “Chef Mavro” Mavrothalassitis. Early reservations for Chef Mavro’s “Cooking for the Love of It! classes are a must as they always sell out far in advance. Classes are limited to 15 students and are scheduled on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 5, July 19, and November 8, 2008. Contact www.GourmetCookingHawaii.com to reserve your place.
The cost is $215 per person and includes:
* A two-hour in-kitchen class with Chef Mavro and his culinary team
* A three-course gourmet lunch with wine pairings served at a chef’s table in the art-filled dining room. Chef Mavro joins the group for further conversation.
* The recipes and background information
* A photo with the Chef presented in a souvenir folder, and
* A GHC chef’s apron
As an alternative to these public classes, corporate groups or friends can book private classes with Chef Mavro on other dates by contacting Gourmet Cooking Hawaii at
(808) 735-7788. Also GHC can easily arrange gift certificates.
Each time the always-entertaining Chef Mavro invites fifteen guests behind-the-scenes into his famous kitchen for two hours of optional hands-on cooking experience filled with practical tips and memorable stories. Additional expertise is contributed by Kevin Chong, chef de cuisine and Hiromi Okura, pastry chef. After the class, Chef Mavro joins the students for a three-course gourmet lunch with wine pairings served at a convivial chef’s table in the dining room. Wine pairings and commentary by Todd Ashline, Chef Mavro’s sommelier, add depth to the experience.
“There is always a convivial mix of students including Hawaii residents and Mainland visitors who schedule their Hawaii trips around these classes,” explains Gourmet Cooking Hawaii’s owner, Kathleen “Kat” Lin-Hurtubise.
“I am happy to continue these classes and my longtime partnership with Kat of Gourmet Cooking Hawaii. For me the reward is the enthusiasm of the students for cooking. They inspire me!” exclaims Chef Mavro. |
